sewts at automatica – Small Booth, Incredible Impact!

11 July 2023

After visiting the ITMA at the beginning of June, the month ended with a completely different type of trade fair: Automatica 2023 showcased that it’s still the predominating event connecting robotics, assembly technology, machine vision and digital solution experts. This year, automatica counted 30,000 visitors from > 88 countries and 570 international exhibitors. Every year robotic companies from all over the world use automatica as their chance to present novelties. And guess what – sewts was one of the novelties presented at the FANUC booth!

By installing a tech demonstrator, we showed how our intelligent computer vision is used to detect textiles and extract precise gripping points for handling in industrial environments. Probably our exhibition space was one of the smallest but the interest in our technology was greater than we could have imagined. The crowds at our booth really showed how unique our approach is. It seems like handling deformable materials is still the elephant in the room – everyone knows it’s needed but no one really wants to touch it due to its complexity.

What was new in 2023?

Besides the who is who of worldwide robotic players there was a noticeable shift towards more AI and software driven companies. Easy usage and better accessibility are increasingly coming into focus. And if we are talking about software and AI in Robotics, then of course one company can’t be missing: Alphabet company intrinsic. For the first time, the google subsidiary was represented with its own booth at automatica to present their latest project: flowstate. In a nutshell flowstate is an intuitive web-based developer solution to make industrial robotics more accessible. It was very impressive to see a live demo for the first time. There is no doubt that intrinsic will be one of the future key players in the automation industry!

Last but not least,
we would like to thank all interested entrepreneurs, smart robotic enthusiasts and of course the FANUC team for their incredible support. After one week of enlightening and valuable discussions, we went back to work with many new ideas and business opportunities.

We are looking forward to automatica 2025 – Maybe our next booth will be bigger, but for sure not less disruptive. Handling cable harnesses, e-commerce returns or sewing shirts, we are ready to shape the future of automation
